Brother to Coco, Titi is one of a trio (along with Yesson and Yoandi). These three are practically inseparable and as much as they end up arguing at some point of every day, you know they will be best friends forever. Titi is the quietest of the three and really likes hanging out with his friends.

Coco wants to be a chef when he grows up. He’s on the quieter side but is very polite and sweet. He also really enjoys playing basketball. He’s a little guy, but has a lot of confidence. He pays attention well in class and is pretty respectful to teachers. His younger brother is Titi.

Hola!

What an amazing summer we've had! From being in the club 5 days a week for classes to having more and more volunteers here from all over - it's been a crazy but wonderful summer! We've such a great few months:)

We can't believe we're halfway through July but we're certainly not ready for the kids to go back to school and we know they aren't either!

Here's a picture of Titi, the one on the left, just hanging out at the club one da playing with Yesson, one of his friends in the younger boys group. We love summer!

July - Coco!

Hola! What a crazy, fun summer it's been! The kids are having such a great time on their break off from school, going to classes at the club that we're not sure anyone's going to be ready to wrap up the summer when school time rolls around again! We are really enjoying the addition of new classes, spending 5 days a week in the club with the kids, and all the volunteers we are meeting and serving alongside who have come in from all over! Here is a picture of Coco one day at the club during English Class - cheesing it up for the camera, as usual! We're loving the summer season!

Halloween

Dove was able to get a huge donation of Halloween costumes and threw a giant party for the kids on the afternoon of Halloween, during Saturday Boys and Girls Club. The kids, as you can see, had a blast!

Titi's Manners

A note from Cathy: I had some visitors from England this week, and they came along to the Center. While I was at the Center talking to them, Titi came up to me and started tapping my leg saying (permiso) excuse me, so that he could speak to me. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but for weeks now Liz and I have been drilling into them that they have to say excuse me if they want to interrupt a conversation. Well he finally did, and I cried!!

Fishing!

During a visit from their sponsors, Todd and Cindy, Todd spent an afternoon with Titi and his friends, Yoandi, Andy, and Sauri, going fishing! Says Todd about the experience, "What a great day teaching the boys how to fish with a fishing pole. They had never seen a fishing pole before after we tought them how to use them we told them that the poles and tackel boxes were theirs to keep they were amazed to say the least. I dont think they could have smiled any bigger they jumped and screamed with pure joy!"

School Uniforms

School starts in the Dominican Republic at the end of August. Children attend school either in the morning or the afternoon- not for full days, like we do in Canada and the United States. Coco and Titi were both provided with uniforms (2 shirts, bottoms, undershirts and underpants, and socks), shoes, gym clothes, notebooks and pencils, in August 2009, just in time for school to start.

Here is Coco (in the blue) at the Boys Club with his friends Yoandi and Yeuri. We were working on painting macaroni to make Dominican flag coloured macaroni jewelry!
